Makes 1 to 2 dozen
Cookie cutter in fun shapes such as bears, rabbits and hearts
12 slices Wonder® bread
3 tablespoons butter, at room temperature
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Preheat the oven to broil.
With the cookie cutters, cut shapes from the slices of Wonder bread, avoiding the crust. Spread one side of each shape with butter. Place buttered side up on a baking sheet. Combine the sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle evenly over the shapes.
Broil until toasted and golden brown.
Tip: Substitute cheese and paprika for the sugar and cinnamon. Or, first toast the shapes and then spread with jam, peanut butter, cream cheese, frosting, candy sprinkles or other sweet toppings.
"Kids may be the best audience for these fun and easy sandwiches, but they aren't the only ones who enjoy them. 'Kids' of all ages find them delicious, as they have since the recipe appeared in The Wonder Book of Good Meals, produced for the 1934 Chicago World's Fair."
