Wonder

Soft. Delicious. Nutritious.

Far from a one hit Wonder.

The Wonder® Bread company through the years.

It all started when Taggart, an Indianapolis baking company, produced a loaf of bread and wrapped it in a package with colorful red, blue and yellow balloons. Wonder Bread was born.

Since then, Wonder Bread has continued to change the times and change with them. In 1925, after the Continental Baking Company purchased Taggart, Wonder Bread became America's first sliced bread, inspiring the phrase "best thing since sliced bread" and changing the history of bread forever.

During the 1940s, when Americans were tightening their belts, the Continental Baking Company did the same. Metals were precious and the slicing blades were no longer available, so Wonder Bread transformed, again, to be unsliced.

That decade was a big one for the Wonder Bread company. A government-supported move to enrich white bread took the bread industry on a turn for the better. And Wonder Bread became one of the first to fortify white bread with eight essential vitamins and minerals.

Nutrition information began to grace the packaging in the 1970s. And in 1986, a new reduced-calorie Wonder Bread launched.

In 1996, Interstate Breads Corporation acquired the Continental Baking Company and the "Remember the Wonder" ad campaign reminded consumers that Wonder Bread is also nutritious.

Today, at close to 90 years old, Wonder Bread is still the soft, delicious and nutritious bread your family has always loved.

Only now, we offer more than 20 different ways to Wonder.
